Laurie Lynn Gafford Crocker, aged 65, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in LaGrange, Kentucky, on November 21, 2016. Laurie was born on February 7, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Louise Emily Lukemeier Gafford and Joe Mack Gafford.
Laurie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and was one of the first women to attend the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School, majoring in Engineering Math and Computer Science. She spent her professional career at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst. Laurie loved the Lord and was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She played clarinet for several years in the Oldham County Community Band and enjoyed cooking large meals, singing praise songs, and cheering loudly for her grandchildren at their sporting events. Above these things, however, Laurie loved her family well and lived a life devoted to them.
Laurie is survived by her daughter, Stacey Lynn Bridges (and son-in-law-extraordinaire Samuel Young Bridges); her brother, David Gafford (and wife Ann Gafford); five grandchildren, Emily Louise Bridges, Sarah Elyse Bridges, Alyssa Bridges Fawkes (and husband Sean Fawkes), Jared Michael Bridges and Jacob Matthew Bridges; two great-grandchildren, Addison Marie Fawkes and Asher Ellis Fawkes; and one niece, Wendy Gafford Carnes (and husband Doug Carnes).
Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, November 27, at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, Kentucky, with Brother Whitt Madden officiating. Interment will follow the next morning at 10:30 am at Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
