William Roy Hinton, lovingly known as "Bill" passed away on April 3rd, 2026 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
Bill was born in Abbeville, SC on April 19, 1944. He was a proud graduate from Cumberland College and went on to earn his Master of Engineering from Eastern Kentucky University. Early in his career, Bill shared his passion for learning as a history teacher and boys' basketball coach in Trimble County.
Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to Ford Motor Co. Kentucky Truck Plant, where he eventually retired.
Bill never met a stranger, and had a special way of making the world feel a lot smaller and friendlier. A routine trip to the local grocery store, bank or library was the social highlight of the day.
Bill was an avid golfer, and a skilled billiards player. In 2020, he proudly participated in Derby City Classic Professional Billards Tournament, a highlight that reflected both his talent and his love for the game.
Above all, Bill cherished his family. Being called “PopPop” was not just a nickname—it was a title he wore with pride and deep affection. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Linda, for 54 years.
He is survived by his daughters Shanna Hinton Ward, ( JP Ward) and Ashley Hinton. His four grandchildern; Logan Moncer, Lilly Moncer, Emerson Ward and Isla Grace Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly.
