Virginia P Smith, 95, of Crestwood, Ky went to be with the Lord Thursday August 26, at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Horse Branch, Ky
Virginia made her home in Crestwood at an early age, when she married Lindsay "T" Smith Jr. and raised five children on the family dairy farm.
She is preceeded in death by her parents William & Minnie Phelps, She is survived by her husband, Lindsay "T"; her sisters Myrtle Smith and Catherine Phillips, children Janice Leedy (Mike), Karen Metschuleit (Jeff), David Smith (Mary), Linda Thomas (Mike), Carole Weber (Jeff), five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Virginia was one of the first Rainbow Girls of the Eastern Star and the first
Kindergarten teacher in Crestwood in 1955, as well as a Girl Scout leader and served many years in the cafeteria at Crestwood elementary. Most
importantly, she was a devout, lifetime member of Crestwood Christian Church, where she taught the Sunbeam class (2-4 yr olds) for 52 years.
Above all else, her love for little children and the Lord carried her through her life, where she has left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Services to be held at Crestwood Christian Church on Thursday Sept 2nd with visitation from 11-1 and service immediately after, followed by
procession to Floydsburg Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, Virginia requests donations to Crestwood Christian Church.
