It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susanne Denise Geer (Risinger) who left us peacefully on September 8. Susanne was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to those who knew her.
Born December 17, 1963, Susanne lived a Christian life full of love, kindness, and compassion. Known to friends as Sue, Eeyore or Scarlett to her sisters and brother, YaYa to her grandson Dalton or just Momma to her children, she touched the lives of many with her generosity and unwavering and fiery spirit. She was known for her strength of character, dedication to family, good nature, and love for her husband, Jason, her children, and grandchild.
Susanne was born in Atlanta, but the family lived in Florida, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma before settling in Oldham County, Kentucky. A 1982 Oldham County High School graduate, Susanne attended and graduated from Roy’s Beauty Academy of Louisville, finding her lifelong vocation. She was highly sought after for her exceptional stylist skills.
In 1987 she married the love of her life, Jason Geer, and together they raised their four children Alex, Emily, Hayley, and Sam. She was dedicated to raising her children and her grandchild, Dalton, who were the joys of her life. They enjoyed their time traveling to the Caribbean or trips to Florida to see her parents. She loved gardening in her yard and admiring what spring and summer brought each year thus earning her another nickname of Garden Rose.
Susanne is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jason; her loving mother, Ann Risinger; her children Alex Geer (Sheila), Hayley Geer, Sam Geer, her grandson Dalton; loving siblings Phillip Risinger (Samantha), Jennifer Beery (Charlie), Stephanie Schindler, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Phillip Risinger Sr., her sister Elizabeth Risinger, and daughter Emily Geer.
Though Susanne is now in heaven she will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire us every day.
