Stanley Harold Brown 2 Feb 1926. Born in Louisville KY. Passed away on Wednesday 11 October 2023 at the age of 97. Stanley Brown, a man of great honor, integrity and character, joined the US Navy at age 17 and served aboard the USS Arneb during WWII holding the rank of Seaman 1st Class. Serving in the South Pacific, he operated a crane and a 20 mm anti-aircraft gun aboard ship, and was in five invasions. Upon discharge, he helped his mother with her shoe repair business. He was self-employed and had various shops over time to include Louisville, Bardstown, and Pewee Valley, Ky. He made orthopedic prosthetics for people with deformities to their feet and legs. Stanley had the Knox Shoe company account filling prescriptions for shoes enabling people to walk and/or correct their foot problems. He also made wooden leg prosthetics for two women in particular, who from polo developed one leg shorter than the other. He would set their foot down onto these beautiful wooden prosthetic legs enabling them to walk independently. He was a gifted master woodworker and built the most beautiful furniture, chest sets and many inlaid items from his own pattern and designs. Stanley H. Brown is survived by his wife Mary R. Brown age 96, Daughter Lynn K Turpen, Son Timothy S. Brown, eleven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers Shelby and Earl Brown, his mother, Lila Brown, father Walter Cab Brown, and beloved daughter, Darlene M. Towle. Stanley and Mary would have celebrated there 77th wedding anniversary on 14 January 2024 A Funeral Mass service will be closed casket on Tuesday 17 October 2023 at St Aloysius Catholic Church located at 212 Mt Mercy Dr. Pewee Valley, KY 40056 at 12:00 PM Eastern Time with graveside rites and burial following at the parish cemetery located at the corner of Rollington Rd and Central Ave HWY 362.
