Shirley Sue Lowry

Shirley Sue Lowry, 84, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2022, in Louisville.  She was born on September 19, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Silas Steenbergen and Mildred Strange. Shirley retired after 29 years of working for Hillerich and Bradsby ­­.  She held positions ranging from administration to international billing, retiring from her last position, operating the Louisville Slugger Museum gift shop.  While there she rubbed shoulders with several famous people, including, Pee Wee Reese, Johnny Bench and Muhammad Ali just to mention a few.  Before and after her retirement, she loved to be on the go and was always busy with her girlfriends and her very dear special friend, Henry and his family.

Her travels took her all over the country and abroad.  From New York City and Atlanta for buying trips for H&B, to cross country trips to Arizona and California to visit her sisters and their families many times.  Her first international trip was to Niagara Falls in Canada for her first honeymoon and her last trip was to Mexico on a cruise in 2018.  In between, with Terry and Teddy serving in the Army overseas, she took the opportunity to visit Hawaii, and Europe twice, taking in multiple countries such as Germany, Italy, Austria,  and others to include the Netherlands, where she searched out her family roots in the town of Steenbergen.  She enjoyed her life, and loved her family and friends deeply.

She is survived by her sons, Timmy (Jennie) and Teddy (Mandy) Harlow, daughter in law, Terri Harlow, grandchildren, Trevor Harlow, Tara Weakley, Adam Harlow, Twayne Harlow and Tanner Harlow, 10 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 15 great step grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C Lowry, former husband, Guthrie Harlow, son, Terry Harlow and daughter Traci Harlow.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood Kentucky.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Stoess Funeral Home, with interment immediately following in Floydsburg Cemetery, Crestwood.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Shirley's honor to COPD Foundation - https://www.copdfoundation.org
