Shirley Ann Hartlage, 80, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at The Springs at Oldham Reserves. Shirley was a lifetime parishioner of St. Peters and St. Denis, Louisville; St. Aloysius, Pewee Valley, and Immaculate Conception, La Grange.
Shirley met her husband Floyd through Carl and Debbie Hartlage. The couple was married 55 years and had five boys. After a brief stint as an AT&T operator, she began her lifelong calling as a homemaker. She loved being a Mom, Grandma, Aunt, sister, and friend.
Shirley kept the books at Hartlage Mold & Tool (and later Hartlage Manufacturing Inc.) for 20+ years. She took great pride in this role with the family business. She played and coached volleyball, traveled with sisters-in-law, quilted and did needlework, and enjoyed time with family and friends.
Shirley was a lifelong, committed Catholic and tackled life’s challenges with her faith-based values and beliefs. She laughed easily and never hesitated to laugh at herself. She was sweet, caring, and giving.
She was preceded in death by Floyd (2017), son John Kevin (2002), and brother Carl (1999).
She is survived by sons Richard W., Anthony W. (Cindy), Charles D., and Brian K. (Miranda); grandchildren Hannah, Scott (Kelly), Zachary, Chandler, Carson, Claire, Cecilia, Joan, Ben, and Grace; five great grandchildren; and sister Linda and brother Dennis.
She was a blessing and will be missed. In her words: Amen, amen, amen.
Her funeral mass will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange, KY, Wednesday May 22, at 12 pm with burial in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 pm, Tuesday, May 21, at Stoess Funeral Home.
