Shirley Hansen Elder, passed away Friday, May 17th, 2024 at The Springs @ Oldham Reserve.
Shirley was born in 1936 and raised in Raytown, Missouri.
She loved spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, going on adventure rides in the car, yard sales, quilting and sewing. She was a member of Salem Assembly of God church in Pewee Valley (now Hope Church) for many years and as of late became a member of Bedford Springs church in Bedford. She loved the Lord and was very dedicated her whole adult life. Any time the doors were open, Shirley was there.
Shirley retired from the Oldham County Board of Education, where she worked as a receptionist at the bus garage. She loved her job however, sometimes she would have to drive a bus route which was not her favorite thing to do. Shirley volunteered at Baptist Health LaGrange for many years where she offered her services to those in need and at the Hope Clinic in LaGrange where she offered her services to the less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bud Elder; mother, Helen Bates; father, Carl Hansen; sister, Pat Coffer; grandson, Jeramy Goosey; and son, Greg Elder.
She leaves behind daughter, Teresa Mullins (Buck); son, Bob Elder; son, Jeff Elder (Marcia); daughter, Lisa Goosey (Marshall); many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Springs @ Oldham Reserve for their wonderful care of their mother.
Shirley wanted this time to be a celebration of her life, not a time of sadness, as she is with the lord.
