Rose Gerdeman Obituary

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend, Rose Marie Gerdeman, peacefully went home to be with her Maker on April 5, 2025, at the age of 81.

Rosie was a devoted mother who loved her family well.  She always lit up when seeing her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved knowing they knew Jesus and was so proud of who they had become. She was an integral part of starting that legacy! From the moment she became a young mother at the age of 21, she gave her “all” to being the best mom and wife she could be… always finding creative ways to teach her kids, make her family and home feel special and modelthe golden rule.

Rosie was born in Ottawa, Ohio on March 31, 1944.  She married Norm when she was 19 and they moved to Lima, Ohio to raise their family before moving to Crestwood, KY in 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norm; her four children, Brad (Carolina), Rachael Roy (Mark), Michelle Monastra (Joe), and Erick (Alli); 13 grandkids (and their spouses); 6 great-grandkids and her oldest sibling, Ed Gerding, who will all carry on Rosie’s legacy of faith and love.

Rosie was known for her sweet humor and smile. Her grandkids called her Mawmaw, and her favorite thing was watching them play their sports and knowing the latest happenings of their lives.  She and Norm loved watching the Cincinnati Reds together and traveling to see their children when they were still able. She loved to read and play games. She had some of the best months making friends and engaging in activities at Magnolia Springs where she and Norm lived the last two years of her life.

Rosie now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty. While we grieve her passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Aloysious Chapel in Pewee Valley, KY on May 31st at 12 noon with a visitation preceding from 10am-12pm. We will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
