Craig Kidwell, 79, left for his heavenly home on September 5, 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer. His faith was the foundation of a lifetime serving others. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Craig was the only child of the late Robert and Ineta Kidwell. He was a lifelong Oldham Countian, avid UK sports fan, fisherman, student of the Word, and Christ Follower. Craig devoted his time and heart to care for others. When he opened Craig’s Pharmacy in Crestwood in 1976, he did so in order to serve those in the community around him. For almost fifty years he could be found behind the pharmacy counter taking care of others, whether it was customers or employees, and he called each of them friends. When not at the pharmacy, he walked alongside men in the prison system as a dedicated friend and servant. He served in prison ministry in Kentucky for over 35 years. The center of Craig’s life was his family and he was happiest when everyone was together. He is survived by his lovely bride of 58 years, Susan, children Lance Kidwell, Melanie Kidwell, and Holly Ringo (Chad), and his grandchildren Annie, Gavin, Peyton, Sophia, and Wyatt. Craig will be remembered for his love of Christ, his genuine care for others, and always asking how he might pray for you. As he always said, “You know what they say in the fishin’ business? He’s a keeper.” Indeed, Craig was definitely a keeper.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 11am, Northeast Christian Church with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 3-7 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Prisoner’s Hope.
