Peggy Buckler, 90, of Crestwood, passed away May 2, 2024.
Peggy was born in Kentucky to Arlie and Ella Skaggs. She was devoted above all to her husband of 68 years and loved spending time with her family and sharing stories of growing up while swinging on the porch.
Peggy was an avid country music lover who you would always find humming the tune on her mind and heart. She spent some time singing for her brother Boss’ band and had an opportunity in her youth to travel singing for the USO in Germany but choose family life as we all could see was her true calling. She was the anchor and glue of the family who was always there to support her children and grandchildren and the many babies as they continued to come. She loved playing games from Yahtzee, Pictionary and Scrabble and always seemed to know how to bring the family together for fun and quality time. She especially loved cooking and baking with her sisters, later her house came to be known as the “Sugar Shack” and she loved to pressure the family to eat at all times, almost like it was mandatory meals.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Hubert” Buckler; parents, Arlie and Ella Skaggs; siblings, Audrey Huffman, Mae Dell Harris, Hubert “Boss” Skaggs, William “Sonny” Skaggs, Lawrence “Charlie” Skaggs, Lula Jaggers; and granddaughter, Michelle Siegrist.
She is survived by her children; Sandy Federico, Clarence (Tish); sister, Marie Schwiermann (Bernie); grandchildren, Amanda Haney, Amy Tuttle (Scott), Ashley Self (John), Daniel Federico (Bekka), Lance Buckler (Maddie); 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Immediately after internment, there will be a reception held for family and friends at Pewee Valley Baptist Church, 331 Ash Avenue, Pewee Valley, KY 40056.
