Norma Hodge Obituary

Norma Schiad Hodge accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young child, rededicated her life as an adult, and she finally met Him in heaven on May 6, 2025.  A devoted wife, mother, and friend to many in her 100+ years were spent trying to serve the Lord and introduce Him to others.  She never wavered in her faith and defended it with courage to the end.  She was a member of Henry Christian Church in Eminence, KY.

Norma was preceded in death by the love of her life, Glen L. Hodge Sr, a son Douglas W. Hodge (Karen), her parents Victor Henry & Edna Mae Schiad, her precious twin sister Jean Schiad McKenzie (Bill) and their beloved older sister Catherine Schiad Johanboeke (Milton).  All three sisters shared the same birthday, January 28, (1925 for Norma & Jean and 1920 for Catherine).

Left to honor her legacy, are her three children, Glen L. Hodge Jr. (MaryLynn), Vernon S. Hodge (Patricia), Catherine H. Foree.  She treasured her eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  Her goal as a mother was to raise her children in a strong Christian home with love and respect as its basis.  In 1980, she was recognized as the KY Mother of the Year, an honor she never boasted about.  One of her children likes to attest to the fact ”There was never a fear that Mom and Dad would divorce.  They loved the Lord. There was an unspoken bond and a united front between them that said they loved each other first and loved each of their children as a part of them.”  This provided a security like none other for their children.

After a lifetime well spent, we release Mom back into the arms of her husband (after 33+ years apart) and into the embrace of her heavenly Father for all  eternity.  She’s where she has always longed to be.  And one day very soon, we will all be together again.  We love you Mom.

Well done my good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:21
