Nancy Shelton Jennings, 84, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on May 23, 2026, surrounded by family. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Nancy was born in Versailles, Kentucky on June 12, 1941 to Thomas Hicks and Reba Shelton. Her infectious laughter and loving spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her. Nancy looked for the joy and beauty in everything.
She dedicated her life to her family, often hosting family dinners and planning road trips to support her grandchildren as they participated in their sports and activities.
As a way to help others, Nancy founded the Prayer Quilt Ministry at Crestwood Baptist Church — a ministry which cares and prays for cancer patients through the creation of “prayer quilts.” To date, the ministry has handcrafted over 2,300 quilts.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Jennings; her daughter, Lori Ferriell (Howard); her son Jim Jennings (Tori); her grandchildren, Katie Jury (Tyler), Davis Ferriell (Raegan), and Hunter Jennings (Anna); and her great grandchildren Lleyton and Will Jury, and Maeve and Henry Ferriell.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Crestwood Baptist Church: 6400 Sweetbay Drive Crestwood, KY 40014. Visitation will be from 3pm-5pm with the service to follow at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made/mailed to Crestwood Baptist Church’s Prayer Quilt Ministry.
