Maurice Wayne Poe

Wayne Poe, 83, of Louisville, Ky, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.

Wayne was born August 6, 1939 to Norman H. Poe and Ottie Elizabeth in Cincinnati Ohio. He attended grade school and high school in Norwood and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1962 with a BA in Marketing and Business Administration. He was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity where he served as president and made lifelong friends.

Later in 1962, he married his sweetheart Sue Anne Bovee. Together they had three daughters, Kellie Kopp (Kraig), Hollie Bruce (Kevin) and Wendie Beneke (Michael).

He worked for a variety of companies that sold packaging materials and equipment for commercial dairy, drink and food processing. He was involved in sales and marketing and traveled the United States and abroad for over 43 years. Wayne loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family, coaching his daughters sports, spending time with grandkids, playing golf and pickle ball and traveling to many places with Sue. The Villages in Florida held a very special place in his heart as well.

Wayne is also survived by his seven loving grand children: Hunter (Brittany) and Hailie Kopp, Mitchell (Kolbe) and Lucie (Zach) Bruce, Liza, Mary and Sarah Beneke.

In celebration of Wayne’s life, there will be a memorial service on Thursday March 23 at 2:00pm at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood, Ky. A gathering of family and close friends will be held from 3:30-5:30 at the Poe home.
