Mary Happel Gordon

Mary Kathryn Happel Gordon, 94, of Crestwood, Kentucky passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, surrounded by family at her home.She was born to the late Richard O’Neal and Mary Smith on May 21, 1929, in Springfield, Kentucky.She was a member of Buckner Christian Church and Oldham County Moose Lodge 2415, where she served on the Board of Officers for a short time. Mary retired from Clayton & Lambert Manufacturing after 33 years as a receptionist, and in her last years of employment assumed bookkeeping, payroll, and other office duties.She is predeceased by her husband, Bryan Gordon; stepdaughter, Patricia Gordon Tindall, and her brother, Mike Roberts.Left to cherish her memory are her son, Eric Happel (Kelly) of Andover, Kansas; and her daughters, Bonnie Huettig of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Penny Akers of Louisville,Kentucky; five grandchildren, Joshua Huettig (Kimberly Woods), Jonathan Huettig, Jack Happel (LeeAnn), Seth Akers (Tiffany), Evan Akers (Jessica) and three great-grandchildren,Oaklyn, Elijah, and Asher Akers.Mary was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She had a fun-loving spirit and a passion for music and dancing.Heartfelt thanks to Mary’s dedicated caregivers, Cookie, Sandra, Debbie, and Jennifer for their kindness and support throughout the last year.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Stoess Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Duncan Memorial Chapel and privateburial at Floydsburg Cemetery.Charitable donations may be made in her name to Moose Charities, Inc. (Mooseheart).
