Marilyn “Jo” Galloway's lion-heart for Jesus took rest on December 11, 2023. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born October 24, 1939, in Ashland, KY she is preceded by her parents W.P. (Bevo) and Mary Browning, and her sister Margaret Ann Cook. Jo graduated from Ashland High School class of 1957 with her best friend Betty Lou Redmon, and then she attended Centre College of Kentucky meeting the love of her life and husband, right-tackle (77) Ronnie Lee Galloway. While at Centre, Jo was named President of Centre Honors Council. She majored in elementary education graduating in 1961 and she married Ronnie later that summer. Ronnie and Jo moved to Pikeville, KY where she taught first grade at Elkhorn City Elementary School. Moving to Louisville, KY in 1964, Jo continued teaching children preschool at Anchorage Presbyterian Church teaching them art and about Christ. They moved into Graymoor Subdivision meeting lifelong friends and sharing many Griswold's family vacation experiences together. She was fun loving; easily making friends and building lifelong relationships. Jo did not know a stranger, she had no regard for one's station in life treating both celebrity and downtrodden alike. Jo and Ronnie sponsored a Wednesday bible study for the children at Bellewood Orphanage, personally connecting with many children there and sharing birthdays and holidays together in their home nearby in Anchorage. Jo was an accomplished artist, and her passions were working with children in art, cheering on UK basketball, and teaching her grandchildren about Jesus. Baptized in the River Jordan, she loved the Holy Land Israel and her family prays for the peace of Israel (Psalm 122). Living a full life, she gained distinction as a daughter, sister, wife & mother, aunt, and grammy. She struggled with dementia in the last few years of her life, but Jo's gentle spirit shined through endearing her caregivers into her family circle. She is survived by her husband Ronnie, sons Roger (Betsy) and Mark (Carey), grandchildren Will, Darby, Hays, Ryan, Maggie, Ian, Hala and Hunt as well as nieces Marybeth and Ann Lynn and nephew Tommy. Jo's life will be celebrated Saturday December 16th at Anchorage Presbyterian Church, 11403 Park Road, Anchorage, Kentucky with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 and funeral service at 11:00. Expressions of celebrating the good and faithful servant, Marilyn Jo Galloway, a life well lived, may be sent to: Hosparus Health of Louisville or Cabbage Patch.
