Mabel (Waldrop) Zabel

Mabel Zabel (92) passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her family, on May 30, 2023. She was well-loved in the small town of Crestwood, Kentucky. Originally from Watauga,
Tennessee, she spent her childhood as one of twelve siblings. Mabel was the proud mother of eight children and led her large family based on the values of honesty, grace, and compassion.
She had a great passion for reading, her family, and playing bingo. She was a light in many people’s lives and will be missed dearly.

Mabel is survived by her son, Ricky Elliott; daughters, Robin Ritchey, Cathy Huff, Cheryl Elliott, and Vicky Houchens (Brian); 18 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 7 great-great
grandchildren; and her sisters and brother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Zabel; former husband, Jim Elliott; children, Steve Elliott, Chuck Elliott, Karen Sue Elliott;
granddaughter, Sondra Elliott; and parents, Clifton and Pearl Waldrop. Mabel was proud of her ever-growing family. Her many life stories, knowledge, and values continue to live on through
those she loved.

Visitation will be held at Stoess Funeral Home on Monday June 5th from 11am to 1pm with funeral service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven memorial Park in Louisville.
