Laurene Florence Sanders Hodge died peacefully on Sunday, December 6th, 2020 at the age of 96.

Laurene was born in Arcadia, California on Feb 5, 1924. She is predeceased by her devoted husband of over 60 years, Reverand William Hodge of Princeton, Kentucky; brother, Charlie Sanders of Squim, Washington; Marjorie Killion of California; Eleanor Hill of Pismo Beach, California; Harvey Sanders of Moro Bay ,California.

Laurene is survived by her son, Dr Steven Hodge (Kathie) of Pewee Valley Kentucky; daughter Patricia Hodge of Dallas Texas : grandchildren :Kenny Hodge( Christina) :Lisa Dahlem (Charlie). Great grandchildren; Kate Elizabeth Henderson; Cole Steven Hodge, Connor William Hodge and Ella Jean Hodge

In her early years, Laurene was a competitive swimmer in Cochilla Valley, California. She graduated from Santa Barbara College with a degree in Home Economics. Laurene and Bill met and married in California where Bill was stationed in the Marine Corp.

Bill transitioned out of the service into the Southern Baptist ministry. Laurene was a loving supportive pastor's wife in several churches across Kentucky and Arizona.

Laurene was also an accomplished seamstress and culinary expert. Everyone knew to call Laurene for any questions .She excelled n her pursuit of dietetics later in life and continued to work for many years in the VA hospital in northern Kentucky .

In retirement, Bill and Laurene settled in La Grange, Kentucky to be near family. Laurene was an active member of DeHaven Baptist church in La Grange . The family is very grateful for the support and the visits the church continued to make at Friendship Manor Nursing home.

Friends and family will remember her love of Christ Jesus ,her giving nature and compassionate spirit .
