Kenneth Higgins Obituary

Kenneth L. Higgins, passed peacefully on 6-5-2022 surrounded by his loving family.  Born 9-25-1948 to June and Michael Higgins.  He was a proud graduate of Louisville Male High School class of 1966.  He retired after 28 years from the United States Postal Service.  He finished his career as manager of St. Matthews Post Office Louisville.  He was a disabled veteran and served in Vietnam 1968-1969 where he received the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie (Tanner) Higgins; his sister, Patricia Higgins; his brother, Michael Higgins; four children, Kenneth Todd (Kristin), Kymberly (Randall) Downs, Elizabeth (Adam) Cummings and Amy Higgins.

He has 8 grandchildren; Ashtyn (Codie) Hamsley, Michael (Shelby) Higgins, Thomas, Grace, Joseph, and Sarah Downs, Olivia and John Wayne Cummings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He loved coaching and playing baseball and was very involved in Beechmont Little League.  He recently coached the Oldham County Special Olympics Bowling Team.  He loved watching his grandchildren participating in baseball, basketball, cross country, cheerleading, swimming, and gymnastics. 

Funeral Mass will be Thursday 11 am, St. Aloysius Catholic Church with a Private Burial.  Visitation will be Wednesday 2-8 pm, Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville, or Ky Special Olympics.
