Joseph (Joe) Dernovshek Obituary

Joseph (Joe) Frank Dernovshek, 91 of Louisville entered into heaven on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born January 21st, 1930 in Walsenburg, Colorado.

He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was married to Rhea Jean Hornbeck on September 21st, 1955.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the 1954 National Bridge Team at the University of Colorado, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from GoodYear Aerospace and Rockwell International, where he obtained multiple patents for his design in brake systems on airplanes and heavy equipment trucks. He also received numerous awards for his technical papers and designs on brake linings and friction materials.

He was preceded in death by his Parents John and Ann Dernovshek and a Brother John Dernovshek.

He is survived by his Wife Rhea Dernovshek, his four children, Pamela Dernovshek, Ellen Hogg (Bill), Jay Dernovshek (Sharon), Joyce Crawley (Tim). His nine Grandchildren Jennifer Fowler (Greg), Ryan Hogg (Brittany Nicole), Brittany Hogg, Steven Dernovshek (Andi), Matt Dernovshek (Mandy), Brooke Cotton (Chris), Cody Crawley, Austin Crawley (Elena), Tyler Crawley (Kait). His three Great-Grandchildren Eli Hogg, Charlee Dernovshek, and soon-to-be Bella Crawley.

He is survived by his Sisters Arlene Lunis, Marlene Ludvik (Richard), and a Cousin Tony Hegler (Carole) along with many Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday March 9th, 2021 at Duncan Memorial Chapel from 11am till service time at noon. Burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery.
