John McGinnis Jr.

John Samuel McGinnis, Jr., 67 years old
 
John was born on December 26, 1954 in Shelbyville, KY and passed away on January 10, 2022 in Jeffersonville, IN 
John's family lived in Simpsonville and then moved to Georgia when he was a teenager.  He joined the Air Force and served as an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Logistics Specialist. He also worked for the Dept.of the Army and eventually became an Auctioneer and Real Estate Broker.  He founded John McGinnis Auctioneers, Inc. and was very active doing onsite and online auctions for 25 years. John was an active member of the Baha'i Faith. He loved traveling in his vintage Bluebird Motorhome with his wife and two dogs, Ginger and Mini, making many trips to Canada and out West, exploring Jeep trails and having other adventures along the way. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and hanging out at the hardware store. He had a great sense of humor and was totally in love with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Frances Merkel Evola, sisters, Rachel Young of Frankfort, KYand Phyllis Conquest (Tom) of Lawrenceburg, KY
daughter, Heather McGinnis of Florida, step-daugthers Elaine Boer of Louisville, KY,and Julie Dulaney (Greg) of Scottsburg, IN,.  
grandchildren, Brianna Dimpfl (Jason) of Statham, GA, and Amy Keller and Jayden Keller of Palm Bay, FL
step-grandchildren, Pierce Anderson  of Louisville, KY, Dr. Kelsi Ferris (Andrew) of Raleigh, NC,and Malori Anderson (Chris Paisley) of Washington Court House, OH,great grandchild, Phenix Dimpfland step-great-grandchildren, Cali Anderson, Weston Paisley and Brooke Paisley. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Samuel (J.S.) McGinnis, Sr. and Etta Mae McGinnis (Cox), and his sister, Shirley Hall.

The family requests donations be made to Second Chances Wildlife Center.
Services will be Thursday 1/13/2022 at Stoess Funeral Home visitation will be 11am til 2pm. Funeral service will be at 2pm with burial to follow at Pewee Valley West cemetery, Pewee Valley Kentucky.
