John Thomas Baker of Westport, KY, at the age of 50 passed away on Tuesday,
October 19, 2021 at Norton’s Hospital. John was born in Louisville, KY to his parents,
Patricia Ann Clifford and John Charles Baker February 1, 1971.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Charles Baker and paternal grandparents,
Juanita and Thomas Baker and his maternal grandparents, Mary and John McCrea and
a nephew Ben Clifford.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Ann Clifford and step-father Samuel R. West, half-
brother Christopher Clifford and step-sister Melissa Clifford and his significant other,
Leah Mann and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a niece.
John attended Oldham County High School where he graduated in 1990. He was self-
employed, a “Jack of all trades”. His passions were horses, barrel racing and spending
time with his friends. His true love was his buckskin mare, Misz Velvet. He was at
peace and the happiest when he was in the saddle with Vel, either running the barrels
or just trail riding. Sadly, John lost his best friend in May of 2020. John is at peace riding
his Misz Velvet once again!
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2 pm to 4 pm with service
immediately following at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, KY. Following the service,
John’s ashes will be scattered where he was the happiest with his Misz Velvet.
