Jerry Cleon Bennett

Jerry Cleon Bennett of La Grange, KY at the age of 80 went away to be with the Lord early the morning on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his residence.  Jerry was born in Louisville, KY on January 20, 1944, to parents, Anna Christine Masden & Robert J Bennett Jr.  Jerry was married to Martha Joan Bennett (Kelly) in 1980 in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Louisville, KY.

Jerry was retired and his passion was taking care of his farm.  Over the years he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Martha, at Rough River Lake. 

Jerry was a graduate of St Xavier High School, Louisville, KY, Class of 1961.  His long work history includes Ford, General Electric, Vendome Copper & Brass Works, and Strauss Co.  Jerry was an extremely skilled millwright and could make or fix anything.  Jerry served as a volunteer fireman for McMahon Fire Department, Louisville, KY and was a Small Arms Repairman Specialist in the United States Army.   He took pleasure working as a mutuel clerk for Churchill Downs & Keeneland for 60 years.

Jerry has 3 brothers, Larry (Brenda) Robert Bennett (deceased), Robert (Teri) J Bennett III, & Bruce L. Bennett, 3 nephews, Bruce (Andrea) R. Bennett, Brent (Rooney) R. Bennett, Ryan Bennett, 1 niece, Kristin (Brett) Hamilton, and 5 grandnephews, Bruce Bennett Jr., Joshua Bennett, Blake Hamilton, Bryan Hamilton, Alex Bennett. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 10:30am to 1pm at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, KY.  A service will be held at 1pm with burial immediately following at Duncan Memorial Cemetery, Floydsburg, KY.
