Geraldine “Gerrie” Arnett Montgomery

Geraldine “Gerrie” Arnett Montgomery, 84, passed away on Saturday, December 18th, 2021, at Forest Springs Health Campus in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Geraldine was born on March 3rd, 1937, in Morgan County, Kentucky.    One of three children, she graduated from Morgan County High School in 1955, and moved to Louisville to work at Tube Turns, where she met her future husband, George.   Married in 1959, she and George enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

A devoted wife and mother, Geraldine left her job after marriage to stay home to raise her children.   She was most often found at her children’s and grandchildren’s school and athletic events, including band competitions, concerts, baseball games, cheerleading events, basketball games, cross country meets, and track meets.   During the late 1970s and early 1980s, she was an active member of the “Band Aids”, a volunteer parent organization that supported the Oldham County High School marching band. 

An avid traveler, Geraldine enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the world, and she was especially keen on taking cruises.  

Geraldine was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a founding member of Grace & Glory Evangelical Lutheran Church in Goshen, KY.   

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Montgomery, Jr., her parents, Hermon and Eva Arnett, and by her brother, Gary Hermon Arnett.   

She is survived by her two children, including Michael Robert Montgomery, his wife Rhonda, and their two children, Kevin and Shaun, all of Crestwood, Kentucky, and Robyn Michelle Wilson, her husband Mark, and their two children, Tyler and Landon, all of Louisville, Kentucky, as well as her sister, Betty Lee Woosley, of Crestwood, Kentucky.  

The family asks that expressions of sympathy be submitted in Geraldine’s name to either the Crusade for Children (whascrusade.org) or to the western Kentucky tornado relief fund (TeamWKYReliefFund.ky.gov).

Visitation will be at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, KY on Monday, December 27th, from 3-8 pm, with funeral services at Stoess on Tuesday, December 28th at 12 noon.   Internment to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East in Louisville, Kentucky.
