Gary Dean Lorenzen died January 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Janette Harriet Lorenzen, parents Leighton and June Lorenzen, and sister Kaye Lefler. Gary is survived by his brother Roger Lorenzen (Jennifer) of Iowa, and son Michael Lorenzen (Kelli) of Louisville. Gary has 4 grandchildren: Brynn Kindlesparker (Lukus), Taryn Derrick (Keith), Zachary Lorenzen (Skye) and Mackenzie Koch (Mason). And 11 great-grandchildren: Drew Kindlesparker, Mason Kindlesparker, Marley Kindlesparker, Duke Kindlesparker, Rhett Derrick, Austin Derrick, Kellen Derrick, Lennox Lorenzen, Lyon Lorenzen, Sunday Lorenzen and August Koch.
Gary's career began as a retail buyer for Macy's department store in Kansas City KS followed by other department stores across California where he and his family settled. Gary also sold TV commercial time at the independent TV channel in Fresno, CA. Later he became a sales rep for multiple soft goods products sold at various California cities. At retirement, he built a home in Crestwood KY where he and his wife lived for 20 years. Wanting to stay busy, Gary drove a school bus in Oldham County for 6 years.
Gary was an avid reader and had an extensive library of books he loved. He never met a dog or cat with whom he wasn't friends with immediately! He loved to play cards twice a week with condo friends as well as joining in holiday gatherings, Friday coffee events, church services and more. But at the end of the day Gary missed his "Janey" and his family rejoices that they are now together again.
