Gary Lee Linepensel

Gary Lee Linepensel, 66, of La Grange, Kentucky passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at home on Monday, December 21, 2020. Even though he was taken from this world sooner than expected, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. 

Gary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up in New Providence, New Jersey. In 1992, Gary and his family moved to Crestwood, Kentucky (later moved to La Grange, Kentucky). Gary began his career in sales of commercial printers and later in life changed to a career in education. Education is the career that he loved the most. Gary worked for the Oldham County School System as a teaching assistant at Buckner Alternative High School. Throughout his time living in Kentucky, he was involved in many different community programs, most notably being a Cub Scoutmaster for troop 172 at Crestwood Christian Church in the 90s. 

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Yvonne Linepensel. 

He is survived by his son, Evan (Roseline Salazar) Linepensel; daughters Caitlin Linepensel (Joseph Klein) and Claire Linepensel; and two grandchildren, Zoe and Zachary. He is also survived by his sister, Yvonne Kranitz; brother, Charles Linepensel; sister, Suzanne Wenger; and several nieces and nephews. 

Gary had a variety of interests he shared with his children. He often took his children to amusement parks, camping trips, and skiing. He was also very handy, taking on many projects around his house. One that brought much enjoyment to his entire family was a beautiful oriental Koi pond that he maintained in his backyard in Crestwood. He was interested in gardening and grew a variety of plants indoors and outdoors, including vegetable gardens. A gifted storyteller, he always captivated his audience.  Gary was a man who had a wide variety of interests and skills and enjoyed sharing them with others and learning new things. 

Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the community, the family is postponing a memorial service for Gary. Please leave a memory for the family on the tribute wall. The family also asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Blessings in a Backpack (blessingsinabackpack.org).
