Gary Lee Elder, 68 of Laconia, Indiana, formerly of Louisville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was married to his wife, Debbie for almost fifty years. He would often surprise her with a cheerful bouquet of Wildflowers on the table to show his love! A sweet note expressing his love, left where she would find it! He knew that was her love language!! He loved the lake trips with his family and was most proud watching his grandchildren fish and play sports. He enjoyed his time spent with several fishing buddies over the years.
He was determined to carry on despite the limitations of his COPD for many, many years! Debbie was an excellent caretaker and by his side throughout his battle!
His lifelong career as a Maintenance Mechanic was in the Manufacturing Industry, Bluegrass Cooperage, Tower Automotive and Dean Foods.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and William Elder, a son, William Russell (Rusty) Elder, a brother, Billy Elder. Survived by his wife, Deborah Joan (Nichter) Elder, son, Terry Lee Elder (Leslie), twin daughters, Melanie Renee Mullins (Alex), and Melissa Dawn Ward (Terry). Grandchildren, Tylar Elder, Noah Elder, Allie Elder, Laynie Elder, and Gracie Elder, Landon Mullins, Bryce Mullins, Jacob Ward and a brother, Bobby Elder (Paula).
