Frances Laverne (Dillingham) Grider

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frances Laverne Grider, age 85, who entered into eternal rest on October 2, 2024. A devoted woman of faith, Fran was known for her unwavering love of God, her church, and her community. She spent much of her life actively serving in various ministries, finding her greatest joy in sharing her faith and caring for others.

Born on January 27, 1939, in Columbia, KY, Fran grew up with a strong foundation in her faith, which guided her throughout her life. She was a long-standing and beloved member of Pewee Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church where she could often be found volunteering, organizing events, and offering her gentle spirit to anyone in need. Her deep faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Fran was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her loving family: Daughter Carolyn Strothman (Ray) Sons Dwight Rhodes (Judy), Scott Rhodes, and Mike Grider (Barbara), 5 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Her legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at Stoess Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 12:00 pm with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.  Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday 10am until 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Greater Ky and Southern IN Alzheimers, 6100 Dutchmans Lane suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284.

Her light will continue to shine through the many lives she touched, and she will be dearly missed.
