Easter (Wilkerson) Ward

Easter Wilkerson Ward, 82, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away July 20th, 2022.She was born at English Station, Jefferson County, Kentucky on March 20th, 1940.The family moved to Crestwood in 1945. She graduated from Crestwood Elementary, Oldham County High School in Buckner, KY.  She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Health and Physical Education.  A little later she obtained a Master's degree in Environmental Safety and Driver Education at Montevallo University, Alabama. She obtained early childhood and elementary certification from the University of Central Florida, Orlando.  After teaching several years, she went into social work which included Head Start, Education Coordinator and other child care services.  Easter, with other EKSU friends traveled to Florida for a PE convention during spring break.  She got sand between her toes and the rest is history.  With the exception of three years out of state, she has lived in Brevard County Florida, Florida.  Easter was an adventurous lady who loved to travel and see new places.  She was an avid Bible reader and loved her church, First Baptist Church Merritt Island, Florida, where she also provided volunteer services.  She was a leader of TOPS and a member of CBREA (education)  She loved to cook and bake and everyone loved her carrot cake, which she had to take to all the get togethers.  She also enjoyed reading, word puzzles and board games.  She loved getting together with her 3 boys and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth.
Easter grew up with parents, John A. and Cassie Wilkerson; brother, John; sisters, Dorothy and Ruby; three sons, Matt R. Ward III (Jennifer) of Lawrenceville, GA, Timothy Ward (Tisha) of Sarasota, FL, John Ward of Cocoa, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Jenna Lynn, Dr. Brittany, Amy, Matt IV, and Carter. 
Funeral service will be Wednesday, 12:00 noon, Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday and run until time of service.  condolences:www.stoessfuneralhome.com
