David Davis, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in Tazewell, Tennessee. He was born on April 29, 1940, in Lee County, Virginia, the son of the late Tobe and Jennie Davis. He worked as a coal miner, farmer, stone mason, but most importantly, drove a school bus. David was shot at the age of 5 and told he would never walk again, and he proved the doctors wrong. Several years later, he started school and he loved his bus driver, Mr. Robinette. He went on to fulfill a promise he made to Mr. Robinette, that he would become a bus driver when he grew up, and proudly drove a school bus for Oldham County for 36 years. He enjoyed his years doing mission work and traveled to Honduras and as a local Baptist Builder. Besides his wife of 63 years Ruth, he is survived by his son, James “Chip” Davis (Terry), daughters, Anita Walker (David) and Debra “Debbie” Mangum (Mark), sister, Dora Woods (Grady), brothers, Robert, Jackie (Karen) and Hagan Davis, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, Kentucky. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at Stoess Funeral Home. Burial will be directly following the funeral service at Floydsburg Cemetery.
