Curtis Carter Obituary

Curtis Allen Carter (1957-2023)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Curt Carter. Curt was born April 14, 1957 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Although he raised his family in Kentucky, he always considered Sumter, South Carolina his home. Curt was a loving  husband, father, granddaddy, and friend. Among those left to cherish his memory include his two children Rachel (Robert) Peters and Travis (Brandolyn) Carter; grandchildren Lily, Scarlett, Quinn, and Lucy; brother Doug (Kay) Carter; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Curt is predeceased in death by his wife Ruth Ellen Sparks and his parents Leo and Bettye (Risley) Carter. Curt was a southern, Christian gentleman. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a senior pipefitter after 33 years. A devoted fan of the Clemson Tigers, he attended many Tiger football championship games. Curt was active in the Sons of Confederate Veterans and supported the cause for which it stands. He was often sought after for his passionate Confederate Memorial Day speeches.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17 from 5-8 pm and Saturday, February 18 from 9:30-11:00 am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00.
