Charles (Chuck) Franklin Malcolm, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday July 29, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He will be missed dearly by Judy, his beloved and devoted wife of sixty-five years. Their three daughters, Sandy Avery (David) of Mason, Ohio; Katie Haller (Kevin) of La Grange, Kentucky; and Tracy Benner (Aaron) of Houston, Texas celebrate the tremendous father and friend Chuck continued to be up until his very last breath.
“Papa Chuck” was blessed with a quick wit and effortless charm. He gave his family an unlimited supply of unwavering love. To say he is fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Blake and Morgan Avery; Madison (Jack Oakey) and Tyler Haller; Carson, Dawson, and Weston Benner is a huge understatement. In his final days, Papa Chuck would sit back in his chair, close his eyes, and smile before telling anyone who would listen about his “seven wonderful grandchildren.”
Chuck was raised in Detroit, where he and Judy wed. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps and graduated from Eastern Michigan University before working in Human Resources for Travelers Insurance Company up until his retirement. While with Travelers, he and Judy moved to New Jersey, Maine, Toronto, New York, Tennessee, Florida, and finally Kentucky gathering life-long friends and legendary adventures along the way.
Sincere thanks to Chuck’s team of compassionate caregivers at Forest Springs Health Campus, especially throughout the last year.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at the Forest Springs Villa Clubhouse (4120 Wooded Acre Lane, Louisville, KY 40245) on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. Charitable donations may be made in his name to the Trilogy Health Services Foundation employee scholarship program. https://thetrilogyfoundation.org/memorial-or-tribute-gifts/
