Carl Beard

Carl Lee Beard, age 85, of Crestwood, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in LaGrange, Kentucky, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was born to the late Charles Smith and Thelma Lee Nachand Beard in Pewee Valley, Kentucky on May 21, 1941.

He was a beloved father, brother and friend. Many will remember him as co-owner of Beard’s Grocery in Pewee Valley. He was a Past Master of Pewee Valley Lodge No. 829, member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Louisville and a member of Kosair Shrine. In the 1980’s and early 90’s he served as a volunteer Deputy Sheriff with the Oldham County Sheriff’s department.

Left to cherish the memory of Carl are his children, Carl B Beard (Missy) and Laura N Beard (Scott Simpson); grandchildren, Carl Joseph Beard, Graeme Benjamin Hutcherson, Sarah Michelle Beard, and Ciel Faye Hutcherson; twin brother, Charles W Beard; and extended family, and friends.
