On March 14, 2026 we lost a man that had a place in so many people's hearts! Not just his family, friends, coworkers, and church, but his whole community. If you looked up the word selfless, you would see a picture of Burke Lasseigne! Burke and Angela have been such a staple in so many lives, that thinking about this world with only one of them seems unimaginable. They would take the shirts off their backs at any given moment for anyone who needed it! There isn't enough money in the world to pay back the favors, acts of service, and selflessness that this man has blessed this world with! He was not just one of the good ones, he was one of the GREAT ONES!
Burke Joseph Lasseigne, was born on December 11, 1961 in New Roads, Louisiana, and raised in the small bayou town of Rosedale with his six brothers and one sister. He grew up playing baseball, fishing, and hunting, but his favorite was crawfishing and getting into wild shenanigans with his siblings and the 12 Bush kids. Burke’s work ethic started early in his life: helping his mom with the newspaper route, working in the corn fields, and running equipment and bailing hay in the humid, blistering heat of the Louisiana summers.
In 1981 Burke met his high school sweetheart, Angela, and in 1984 they married. Later that year they had their daughter, Megan. In 1989, they welcomed their son Cody.
It was in 1990 that Burke and Angela made the move to Pewee Valley, Kentucky, where they began a new chapter in their lives with Angela’s grandfather, parents, and brothers on Peace Farm. He worked hard on the farm while traveling as an over the road truck driver. In 1998 he was hired at UPS, where he worked for 28 years, earning his 26 year safe driving award.
Burke worked hard, but he knew how to play hard, too. He loved attending Nascar races with his friends and family- his favorite races were Talladega and Bristol. Burke also spent many cold days hunting. He was a master tracker- just ask Cooper. Burke was also a member of K and I 4-wheeling club, where he was never afraid to tackle any obstacle. His favorite day of the year was their annual crawfish boil. He took so much pride in sharing his Louisiana Cajun culture with others.
Burke’s greatest accomplishments were his children Megan and Cody and his grandchildren Cooper, Hadley, and Liam. His favorite pastimes were wrestling around with them, making them laugh, teasing them, and showing them what it means to lead a life where you work hard, love hard, and always leave room for fun and laughter. Burke cared and worked so hard to ensure that his family was provided for, ensuring that they were given experiences that would create memories that would last a lifetime.
Burke is preceded in death by his father, John Charles Lasseigne and mother Sadie Mae Lasseigne, grandfather, Otis Kent and grandmother, Mamie Kent. He is survived by his adoring wife, Angela, daughter Megan Bonilla (Jordan), son Cody Lasseigne (Hannah) and grandchildren Cooper and Hadley Bonilla, and Liam Lasseigne. His brothers Charles (Lanette), August “Lionel” (Theresa), Farrell “DD”, David (Sherland), John “PeeWee” (Beverly), Roy (Bonnie) and sister Rhonda, brother in laws Eddie Thompson (Delana), Mike Thompson (Charlene), Lee Thompson, nieces Ellora Thompson, Fawn Booksh, Amber, Cheyenne, and Brianna Lasseigne, nephews Chad, Corey, John and Greg Lasseigne and William McClure and step-nephew Camden Hodges and a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The love Burke had for his family and friends is what you dream of having in this lifetime. This world will literally never be the same without him, but the love he left behind in so many hearts will never die. There are no words to express the depth of hurt and sadness those who knew and loved him are feeling now. To know him was to love him.
Mathew 25: 21- “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
