BESSIE MAE BEARD KLEIN
Entered her eternal life on December 21, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on March 26, 1940 in Lagrange, KY to the late Alonzo Beard and Agnes Powell Beard.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Parker Lee Darland, Ronald Louis Hall, Jules Mason Klein; brothers, William Beard, Thomas Beard, and Allen Beard.
Bessie retired from Luther Luckett Correctional Institute over 30 years ago where she served as personnel director after working her way up in the prison system. She was an active member of the Louisville Emmaus community where she worked many walks. Bessie served as deacon, elder and trustee at Crestwood Christian Church where she also taught Sunday school. Her services in Oldham County consisted of working the polls in both primary and general elections until recent years. During her retirement years Bessie met Jules and spent many great years travelling to West Palm Beach in the winters along with great trips to Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, and all over the continental United States. They spent summers here in Kentucky working on the nursery and raising a large garden sharing their crops with family and friends.
She is survived by a long loving legacy of children, grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. She is survived by daughters, Carla D’Alessio and Saundra Williams. Granddaughters, April Holland, Danielle Cox (Dann), Amanda Knapp (James), Natalie Davis (Josh). She is also survived by a brother Richard Beard (Ruth Ann) and sisters Mary Ann Hall (Don) and Nancy McCarty. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and former sister and brother in laws.
