Basil Forman Queen of Prospect, Ky passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness. He was born September 2, 1948,in Buckhannon, WV. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Burdette Queen, daughters, Beth Hairston (Louis), and Jennifer Roth (Mike), 5 Grandchildren , Brooke Hall Steverson (Taylor), Anna Hall, Samuel Hairston, Will Hairston, Blake Roth, and two great grandchildren , Bryce and Laynie Steverson. Basil is survived by one Brother, Fred Queen,(Loretta) of Grafton WV and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lucile and Clay Queen, three sisters, Mary Lou Dowell (Keith)
Dawn Queen (Leo), and Nancy Darling (George)
Basil worked for Corhart Refractories in Buckhannon WV, Pascagoula Ms, and Louisville ,Ky where he spent most of his professional career. He retired after 35 years and then worked part time for the SBA and substituted for the Oldham County School System. He loved all of his students and enjoyed going to the High school Football games.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 7, in Buckhannon, WV. Basil was a very active man during his life. He was an avid tennis player, runner and golfer. His favorite pastime of all was spending as much time as he could with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Maly and his nurses and staff for their exceptional care during Basil’s illness.
Friends will be received May 11, 2022 from 12:00-2:45 pm with the funeral following visitation at Crestwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Derek Robinette officiating.
