Louis G. DeVincentis,79, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March
9. “Lou” was born on July 26, 1939 to the late Josephine Park DeVincentis and
Alfred John DeVincentis in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Lou was a Christian and attended Northeast Christian Church. He served on
the Jefferson County Police Department from April 1965 until his retirement, at
the rank of Sergeant, in May of 1991. Lou served in Adam, Baker, and Charlie
Districts, the Auto Theft Unit, Youth Bureau, Homicide Unit and the Professional
Standards Unit. He was a member of FOP Lodge 614. Lou also served with the
Oldham County Sheriff's Office for 14 years, from 2000 until retirement in 2014.
This combined for his total law enforcement career of over 40 years.
Lou was married to Lorena D. “Dee” Shanks of Oldham County in October
1959. Survivors include his wife and four children: Deborah (Timothy) Hannah of
Chattanooga, Tennessee, Denise (Jesse) Spratt of Louisville, Mark A. DeVincentis
of Louisville and David (Kay) DeVincentis of Louisville. Also his three
grandchildren: Jeremie (Ashley) DeVincentis, Danielle DeVincentis and Meredith
Hannah.
Visitation for Lou will take place at Northeast Christian Church, 9900
Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, March 19 from 3:00 p.m. to
7:30 p.m. A special FOP service will follow for members at 7:30 p.m. Funeral
Service will be held at the church on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. with
visitation at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery, 4400
Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. Contributions in Lou’s Memory may be
made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or Hosparus of
Louisville.
