Jules Klein, of Crestwood, Kentucky died peacefully on January 3, 2019, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY at the age of 85.
Jules is survived by his wife, Bessie Klein, children, Robert Klein and Page Klein, step daughters Carla D’Alessio and Saundra Williams, granddaughter, Amanda Gray (Matthias Gordon), step granddaughters, April Holland, Danielle Cox (Dann), Amanda Knapp (James), and Natalie Davis (Josh), 14 great grandchildren, siblings Joyce Gregory and Karl Klein (Julianna), and a host of nieces and nephews. Jules was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Klein and Martha Lee Klein and his sister Marion Koehler.
He was a member of Crestwood Christian Church, Louisville Emmaus Community, South Oldham Lion’s Club, National Holly Society, Louisville Nursery Association and the UK Cooperative Extension Service. He also was the owner of Jules Klein Nursery located in Brownsboro, Kentucky.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Crestwood Christian Church with internment at Floydsburg Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 12:00 pm until the service begins at the church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made, in his honor, to Yew Dell Botanical Gardens, 6220 Old LaGrange Road, Crestwood, KY 40014 or Crestwood Christian Church, PO Box 90, Crestwood, KY 40014.

Jules was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Klein and Martha Lee Klein and his sister Marion Koehler.
Jules was born on October 11, 1933. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1951 and attended Centre College. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in The Korean War in Okinawa, Japan. He was an accomplished horticulturist who propagated the dwarf Klein forsythia, worked with various holly seedlings, grafted Japanese Maples, Crab Apple trees, and Hawthorns.   He served as an instructor and guide at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens.  He was a member of Crestwood Christian Church where he served the Lord as a Deacon and an Elder. Jules also was a member of the South Oldham Lions Club, the Louisville Emmaus Community, Louisville Nursery Association, UK Cooperative Extension Service and was a member of the National Holly Society.
