Betty Ruth (Richardson) Stoess

Betty Ruth Richardson Stoess was born in Pineville, Ky. on April 24th, 1925, and passed away peacefully at home in Crestwood, Ky. on October 9th, 2018.  She and her family moved to Louisville's west end shortly after her birth and lived there until she graduated from U of L in 1947.  She was a Member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.  Shortly after graduation, she took a job teaching school in Oldham County where she met and married Clayton, the love of her life.  They have had a very active life and involvement in the Oldham County community.  Betty was a member of the Pewee Valley Woman's Club, Crestwood Civic Club, Pewee Valley Presbyterian Church and continued to substitute teach for many years in the Oldham County school system.  Betty was an avid gardener, bridge and tennis player and swimmer, and she loved to pickle and can many of her garden vegetables.  Her pickled okra was unrivaled. She was an accomplished hostess, who planned and executed many wonderful parties for family and her many friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Corolee Richardson, her sister, Martha Lee Ruhe and her grandson, Christopher Talley.
She is survived by her husband of 69 very special years, Clayton E. Stoess; son, Clayton Jr., (Claudia); daughter, Cynthia Talley (Bill); granddaughters, Leigh Stine (Jason) and Lindsay Jennings (John) and grandsons, Cameron Talley (Elizabeth), Clay Talley (Lauren) and Beau Stoess; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 
Funeral service will be Tuesday 10:30 am, Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday 2-6 pm.
