Arvel J. “Jerry” McMahan 71, died peacefully on April 19, 2018 after a courageous fight against cancer. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Arvel McMahan. Jerry is survived by his mother, Laverne McMahan and brother Danny (Ann). He is also survived by his dedicated wife of fifty years, Carol, two daughters Molly McMahan (Sunny Gulati) and Christy (Matt) Weaver, three grandchildren, Quinn Zeck (Jade), Macki and Cam Weaver and one great grandson Carter.
Jerry was lifelong resident of Oldham County and a lifetime member of Crestwood United Methodist Church. He graduated from Oldham County High School and Tennessee Technological University. He was a proud charter member of the Sigma Chi fraternity at Tech.
Jerry was a successful real estate broker, developer, and owner of the largest Coldwell Banker company in the state of Kentucky. He also served on the board of the Oldham County Water Commission, was a founding director of the The Bank-Oldham County and former Chairman of the Kentucky Real Estate Commission.
Jerry was an avid sports fan who owned several race horses and bled blue for his Kentucky Wildcats. But he will most be remembered for the way he loved and connected with others.
All arrangements will be at Crestwood United Methodist Church. Visitation on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 3-5pm and 6-8pm. A celebration of life will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery, Crestwood, KY.
