John Dolan Obituary

John Dolan, 79, of Crestwood, was born into eternal life on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2024.
Those who knew him will remember his love of life, friends and family.
John was an Irish Catholic kid from the Bronx at heart. He moved to Kentucky with his family in
1978 for a job at Brown & Williamson. He believed in serving his community and founded the
Oldham County Special Olympics, was President of the Oldham County Jaycees, and was an
active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He won a WLKY Bell Award in 1981 in
recognition of his service to the community. John was also a part-time instructor at the
University of Louisville in the 1980s.
As a well-known member of the Louisville financial community, John worked at many
brokerage firms including Merrill Lynch, JC Bradford and Raymond James throughout his long
career. He often laughed that he was possibly the oldest stockbroker in Louisville. Those who
knew him will remember his passion for the New York Yankees, U of L sports and the Stock
Market.
John always had time to ask about you and your family and share a funny story or two. He was
devoted to his wife of 50 years, Linda, and also loved spending time with his grandchildren
Elizabeth and Brooke.
John is preceded in death by his son Brian; mother Margaret; father James and cousin Emmett
Flaherty. He is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Christina Baker (Tim); grandchildren
Elizabeth and Brooke; brother James (Christine); niece Margaret Acosta (Greg); grandnephew
James; Emmett’s wife Joanna and children Tara Trammell (Jeremiah), Chris Flaherty (Claudia)
and Kevin Flaherty (Michelle) and their children Alexis, Lauren, Bryce, Rylan, Keegan, Cody and
