Steve was one of a kind. I enjoyed being around him and his great sense of humor. Steve genuinely cared for people and was a blessing to me over and over with his thoughtfulness. He was a prayer warrior for so many. He will be truly missed.

DEAR BROTHER JOSEPH HARDT, MY HEART IS HEAVY BY THE PASSING OF STEVE. STEVE WAS A PRECIOUS SOUL.MY FATHER BILL PEASE AND FAMILY HAVE ENJOYED THE YEARS OF STEVE'S LIFE SINCE WE STARTED GOING TO
CAMP CRESTWOOD IN 1978!! WE SHARE MANY MEMORIES OF STEVE AND THE LIFE CHANGING SPIRTUAL REFRESHINGS OF CAMP CRESTWOOD. STEVE'S LIFE TAUGHT ME HUMILITY, HUMBLENESS,THANKFULNESS,AND MEEKNESS. AT CAMP STEVE WOULD ALWAYS GRAB MY HAND TO SHAKE IT. HE WOULD NOT LET GO,THEN START TO SQUEEZE HARDER AND HARDER
AND GRIN, THEN INTO LAUGHTER!! STEVE WAS GENUINE IN THE WORSHIP SERVICE MEETINGS TO HIS GOD AND LORD!! IT WAS A BLESSING FOR YOU AND RUTH TO HAVE STEVE AT THE CAMP MEETINGS. DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU,STEVE,I,TROY BOGGS AND A FEW OTHER MEN GATHERED ON A SATURDAY TO TAKE DOWN AND DISMANTLE THE OLD CAFETERIA AT THE CAMP GROUND??? WE USED YOUR FORD LINCOLN CAR WITH A CABLE TIED TO THE BUMPER TO LET DOWN THE MAIN SUPER STRUCTURE I-BEAMS OF THE BUILDING!!!!!! THOSE ARE PRECIOUS MEMORIES THAT I CAN NEVER FORGET!! BE REST ASSURED THAT STEVE HAS ENTERED INTO
THE "CITY OF THE GREAT KING". A CITY WHERE THERE IS NO SORROW,
GRIEF,SUFFERING OR PAIN. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND THE FAMILY
IN THIS TIME OF NEED!! DAVID,JANIE AND SARAH JANE PEASE,

Renee and I offer our deepest respects during this time of loss for the Hardt family. Steve was a most special friend. "Whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and the living." (Rom.14:8-9).

Steve was one of the most upbeat persons that I knew while working with the Corps. Always a smile and he would always finish our chats with saying "you nut".. with a big grin and laugh.
My Condolences to the family.
