Marie Collins Lewis

Marie Collins Lewis, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Baptist Health Louisville.

She was born on March 8, 1926 in Morgan County Kentucky to the late Clay W. Collins and Lucy J. Collins.

Marie worked as a Kindergarten teacher and Child Care Director at Green Acres Baptist Child Care. After retirement, she worked with children’s programs at her church, Ballardsville Baptist Church where she was a member for over 30 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Garland M. Lewis, a sister, Betty J. Brown and a brother, Roger B. Collins.

Marie is survived by two children, Rebecca K. Lewis (Bernie) of Louisville and Garland K. Lewis (Peggy) of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Kyle P. Lewis, Anna-Marie Lewis Cutlip, (Rob), Amelia Lewis Weir (Brad); one great-grandchild, Ivy-Marie Cutlip: four sisters, Delma Adelizzi, Edith McKenzie, Susie Lewis, Jean May; and one sister-in-law, Oleta Collins.

Visitation will be Friday, February 9th from 10-2 pm at Stoess Funeral Home, 6534 W. Hwy 22, Crestwood, KY 40014. The funeral will follow at the Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Eminence Cemetery.
