Ernest R. Daugherty Sr.

Ernest R. Daugherty, 82, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at Norton Brownsboro.
He was a loving husband and father and had a knack to make one smile. 
He was founder and former President of Daugherty Insurance Agency Inc.  He was a member for over 63 years of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church having served many positions at the church.  He was a Deacon, Chairman of Deacons on many occasions; Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Director.  He was Charter President of the Optimist Club, a member of the Louisville Exchange Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was a volunteer speaker for the American Red Cross having been awarded the Grand Larynx Award.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Daugherty; parents, Roby and Bonnie Daugherty and sisters, Illene Embry and Louise Puckett.  He is survived by his son, Ernest Daugherty Jr. (LeAnn); daughter, Carol Jean Epley (Kevin); grandson, Colin Daugherty McDowell; nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and a sister, Helen Wilson.
Funeral service will be Friday 11 am , Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday 3-8 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
