Betty Lou (Gossett) Thompson

Betty Lou Thompson (nee Gossett) passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, December 21st, 2016.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Carroll R. Thompson, her two sons, Rusty and David (Melody); son in law, Troy Patterson; grandchildren, Abby Korfhage, Shelby Thompson, Lauren Richards, Chase Thompson, Nathan Patterson; great grandchildren, Grayson Richards, Cole Korfhage, Scarlett Korfhage; and brother, Harbourt Lee Gossett. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Thompson Patterson and parents, Russell and Gertrude Harbourt.

Betty loved her church, Crestwood Christian Church, where she faithfully served her Lord as a member of the congregation for many years.  She was an Elder and held various positions on the board. She led the Church's annual Turkey Supper numerous times through the years.  She hosted weekly bible studies in her home, and regularly attended Sunday School with Carroll.  Betty also served on the Patient Advisory Board for Norton Hospital, which was dedicated to helping cancer survivors and people undergoing cancer treatment.

Betty lived to make sure people around her were comfortable.  She strived to ensure her family's needs were always met before her own.  Betty enjoyed entertaining family and their many friends whenever the opportunity came about.  She loved to cook and there was always room for one more at her table.  Her favorite place to be was on her screened in porch, no matter the weather.  She would spend much of her time there reading, talking to her friends on the phone, or inviting them to come and sit for long conversations, lots of laughter and to solve the worlds' problems. 

A memorial service will begin at 2pm, Saturday, January 7th, at Crestwood Christian Church with a visitation beginning at 1pm.  A gathering of family and friends will continue from 3-5 pm at the church. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Sunday School Class @ her church or Hosparus.
